Julkku Space Project

Student magazine Julkku became the first known publication to enter the edge of space on 21st of April 2012. The weather balloon carrying the magazine, a digital video camera and a GPS-tracker started its ascension in Jämsä, central Finland, and landed four and half hours later almost 200 kilometers north of the launch site in Pihtiputaa. The estimated maximum height was 30 kilometers above sea level after around four hours of ascension. The bursting of the weather balloon propelled the magazine to the nearby low earth orbit, where it will circle the earth until the nearing apocalypse at the end of this year. The camera managed to capture a bit over two hours of video material during the flight, until the battery finally lost against the freezing weather conditions of the upper atmosphere. The footage was amazing, even though witnessing the explosion of the weather balloon and the subsequent free fall would have been awesome as well. Perhaps next time! Student magazine Julkku is a humorous publication that brightens the lives of hundreds of thousands of people every second year around the May day in the Helsinki region of Finland. My friend Max was in Army Airborne in Vietnam. For his 60th birthday, I wanted to help him relive those memories and went digging around for a good video. I could not find any to my satisfaction, so I created my own, spending many hours reviewing a lot of clips from YouTube and Google Video. I did none of the videography - I only collected and viewed a ton of video clips and assembled them into a story. The music has been overused and you will recognize a lot of video from other clips. This is simply a compilation. After watching the final video, Max said he wanted to grab a chute and do it all over again. I am most grateful to the boys who sneaked a camera on board to capture the first-person perspective of the jumps. Looks like it would be a lot of fun except for when people are shooting at you.

www.learningdslrvideo.com It depends who you are, this comparison is more about video than pictures, but if you are photographer first that uses a lot of remote flash than I would go with the T3i because of the built in flash transmitter. OK now that we have eliminated the photographers for you people that shoot video the decision becomes a little harder. First off the sensor is exactly the same, I have been testing this for a month now and I have not seen any difference at all in image quality. Depending on where and when you look there is 0 to 0 difference between the two, with the T3i being more expensive. The first major difference is the flip out screen. At first I was like oh I might break it, but I have come to really love it. Low shots are great, so much easier when using a slider on the ground. If you like to wear it around your neck and have zipper on your jacket it can protect the screen from getting scratched! The specs on the T3i and T2i for the LCD monitor appear to be almost identical except for the angle of view which the T3i has 10% bigger than the T2i, for the past month I have noticed that the T3i screen looks slightly better. If you are not a hacker, meaning you are not comfortable with items like upgrading your camera's firmware then the T3i is for you because of the manual audio level controls, if you are comfortable with this hack and using beta software that will sometimes ruin a shot because Magic Lantern just stops recording the the T2i ...

www.dslrfilmnoob.com The Canon 5d Mark III showed up on Friday, so I've spent the last couple of days getting a feel for all the new features. So far I'm very pleased with it's performance all though I will need to spend some more time testing the audio inputs. As of right now I'm not sure if it's the camera or the mic that is the source of the noise. Many of the features included on the 5d Mark III are things that Magic Lantern firmware users with 5d mark II's have been enjoying for quit some time. So the new features added to the MKIII probably don't come as much of a surprise. I would still like to have seen focus peaking and a clean HDMI output but I'm guessing Canon still wants to protect their soon to be announced Cinema EOS line of video cameras. Chances are if you're a 5d mark II owner and happy with it's low light performance and focus system, you'll probably have a hard time justifying the extra jump in price that the MKIII represents. After all, your camera will probably need to be earning its keep for 00. I'm going to continue testing of the 5d mark III and plan to have a full review out in the next few weeks. So far i'm pleased with the results, but i'll see how I feel once the new car small fades. As of this writing B&H is the only online site that has the 5d mark III with kit lens in stock, the body only option is back ordered.
